How to Use This Site
New information is always most useful if you apply it to your own situation. All the best farm planning curricula include worksheets that guide you through the planning process, so we've designed this site to offer online worksheets that you can fill in as you go through the learning units. If you'd like, you can download these worksheets onto your computer and plug your responses into a farm plan that can be used to seek financing. You can read more about farm plans and find templates on this site too.

We hope you will browse the site, use the search feature, or visit the site map to find items of interest. We've posted answers to questions that many new farmers have, a listing of where to go to get help on specific situations, and a series of articles and videos with advice from successful farmers.
If you would like to network with farmers in our NY Farmers Forum or are serious about developing your farm plan, you'll want to create an account by registering on this site. This takes less than a minute. Then you can post questions or comments in the Forum, and start working on your Farm Plan using the online worksheets integrated in the Lessons.
Where are the Online Worksheets?
Online worksheets are scattered throughout the Learning Units. They look like this:
When you see bold text like this next to a clipboard icon in a Learning Unit, click on it. If you are logged in, the worksheet will pop up with questions. Enter your responses and click Save.
How do I find my responses later?
When you are logged into the site, you'll see a menu option on the right that looks like this:
Click on "My worksheets" and you will see all of the worksheets you have saved. The list will look something like this:
You can edit or delete worksheets, or download them as PDF files onto your home computer. The worksheets on this site provide the foundation for a business plan. So if you'd like to write a full plan, you can cut and paste the information from the worksheets into the farm plan template of your choice.
